Privacy Policy Merkur App

§ 1
General Provisions

a) The companies belonging to Merkur Insurance Group (Merkur Versicherung Aktiengesellschaft, Conrad-von-Hötzendorf-Straße 84, 8010 Graz) offer their customers a bonus programme through which customers can remain informed on different special offers with cooperation partners of the Merkur Insurance Group, thereby claiming benefits (e.g. price discounts and rebates) during the booking of products and/or services provided by cooperation partners. Participation in this bonus programme is handled free of charge via installation of the Merkur App.

b) For this purpose, the Merkur App is available for customers to download. Customers may install and use the “Merkur App” after accepting the Terms of Use addressed here free of charge on their mobile communications devices (e.g. mobile phones or tablets). “Merkur App” offers customers an overview of products and/or services provided by the cooperation partners of the Merkur Insurance Group, and it shows which benefits (e.g. price discounts or rebates) customers may claim when booking these products and/or services. Cooperation partners will grant the customers the benefits offered upon proof that “Merkur App” has been installed on their mobile end device.

c) Rights and obligations related to the use of “Merkur App” are regulated by the Terms of Use discussed here.

d) “Merkur App” is a free additional offering for customers, and it serves to provide information to customers as well as giving them the opportunity, in the form of the bonus programme, to gain benefits in booking products and/or services offered by selected Merkur cooperation partners.

§ 2
Data Protection

a) Merkur’s bonus programme is a data application operated by Merkur with the assistance of a service provider, Merkur Lifestyle (Merkur Lifestyle GmbH, Conrad-von-Hötzendorf-Straße 84, 8010 Graz, 100% subsidiary company of Merkur), with the purpose of enabling customers to inform themselves of and make use of all special offers and benefits offered by cooperation partners.

b) As a Merkur customer, you can view existing special offers and benefits after installing the Merkur App. In this data application, data are stored exclusively for the purpose of administration of the bonus programme. By entering the client number, we can connect your profile data submitted with a policy number, thereby ensuring the contractual relationship is upheld. In order to redeem a benefit offered, we therefore find and use all of your data required for the creation of your bonus programme membership and the processing and monitoring of your booking; these include personal data found in your app profile (names, email addresses).

c) These data are not used for other purposes (e.g. marketing) unless you provide separate consent to our Data Protection Agreement during the identification of your data.

d) Similarly, none of your data are forwarded to the corresponding cooperation partners during booking.

e) It is possible to request an information about your personal data processed in the application. In case your personal data are processed incorrectly, you may require their correction or deletion and you have right to contradict the processing of your personal data in justified individual cases. In addition, the right to data portability exists. In these cases, we request contact by e-mail at or in writing to Merkur Versicherung AG, A-8010 Graz, Conrad-von-Hötzendorf-Straße 84. In addition, the right of appeal to the data protection authority is open and as of 25 Mai 2018 you may request the restriction the processing of your personal data until clarification of its accuracy and the transmission of the data to third parties. The personal data of a registered bonus program member stored in the system are required to fulfil the bonus program. If these are not provided, a booking within the bonus program cannot be carried out.
